17-4PH Round Bars

17-4PH Round Bars is one of the most commonly used precipitation hardened stainless steels. It contains about 17% chromium and 4% nickel with additions of copper. This type of steel has a martensitic crystalline structure in combination with a very hard and brittle structure that is due to stabilization via precipitation heat treatment. The corrosion resistance of 17-4PH is comparable to that of 304 stainless steel in most media. An excellent combination of high strength and good corrosion resistance at temperatures up to 316°C make this stainless steel extremely versatile and an effective solution for many applications.

The steel grade 1.4548, 17-4PH and the 1.4542 have similar analytical conditions, it is a stainless steel with high yield strength, high wear resistance as well as good corrosion resistance.

Due to the combination of corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties, this material 17-4PH Round Bar is also suitable for use in maritime environments. Whenever the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of martensitic steels are insufficient. In standing seawater is vulnerable to corrosion fissures.

17-4PH Round Bar is suitable for use in maritime environments due to its combination of good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. 17-4PH provides an excellent solution if stronger corrosion resistance and mechanical properties are required than those provided by martensitic steels. 17-4PH (UNS S17400), Type 630, is a chromium-nickel-copper precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel with an addition of niobium. 17-4PH combines high strength and hardness with good corrosion resistance.
