EN 10025-2 S355J2+N Plate, Sheet & Coil

S355J2+N is a medium tensile, low carbon manganese steel which is readily weldable and possess good impact resistance (also in sub-zero temperatures). This material is commonly supplied in the untreated or normalized condition.

S355J2+N with material number 1.0577 according to DIN EN 10025-2 belongs to the non alloy and normalised structural steels. In general, steel S355J2+N is suitable for all common welding methods.

At the lowest product thickness, the yield strength is at least 355 MPa. The notch impact test is carried out at -20°C and must reach at least 27 J for S355J2+N and 40 J for S355K2+N.

S355J2 + N is used in steel construction, pressure vessel and boiler construction, mechanical engineering, mould making, mining and the construction machinery sector.

Grade S355J2 has a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa. The impact energy at a test temperature of -20°C is at least 27 joules.

S355 can be supplied in the quality groups JR, J0, J2 and K2. The quality groups differ in the specified requirements for notched bar impact energy.

On request, you can select the delivery condition for long products and hot-rolled strip +AR or +N:

+ N - rolling process with a final forming in a specific temperature range, which results in a material condition equivalent to that after a normalising. In this way, the nominal values of the mechanical properties can be maintained even after an additional normalising.

+AR - "as rolled" means conventional hot rolling without normalising or thermomechanical rolling and/or heat treatment conditions such as normalising or quenching.

These steels are suitable as standard steels for general metal, structural, civil engineering and bridge construction as well as for water, vehicle and mechanical engineering. They are also easily weldable according to all common processes.

Machinability of this material is similar to that of mild steel.
