EN1A Round Bar / 230M07 Steel
EN1A also known as BS 970 230M07. EN1A is low carbon mild steel. The term Mild Steel applies to all low carbon steel that does not contain any alloying elements in its makeup and has a carbon content that does not exceed 0.25%. The term “Mild” is used to cover a wide range of specifications and forms for a variety of Steel.
Mild Steel is used in mechanical engineering applications for parts that will not be subject to high stress.
Free cutting where a large volume of products are required, It can be formed by rolling or drawing, suitable for machining using both automatic and CNC machines. Available in square, round, flat or hexagon form. EN1A is also available as leaded (EN1A Pb) for enhanced machinability. Usually supplied the untreated and cold finished (cold drawn or centreless turned) condition. EN1A is widely used for the manufacture of components requiring superior surface finish with high production rates.
We can provide you free cutting steel both in black and bright bar in cold drawn form in the following size range:-
- Round Black from sizes 23.5mm to 80mm
- Bright Bar from sizes 22mm to 63.5mm
- Hexagons Black from 23.5mm to 52.5mm
- Hexagon Bright bar from 22mm to 50mm
Welding EN1A Steel
Due to the low carbon content of EN1A it is not recommended that this Mild Steel is used for welding.
- Hydraulic fittings
- Precision machined components
Particularly where intricate drilling and machining operations are involved. It can be case-hardened, producing components with enhanced wear resistance and has reasonable strength and ductility. EN1A also offers a superior finish.
